I woke this morning to a bunch of dogs barking and what sounded like turkeys. Turns out a squadron of a couple dozen were passing through. I always thought turkeys were mostly flightless, but these ones seemed to be getting around just fine!

The new graphics card is in! Bit of a rough road getting everything up and running. The new card would POST fine, but the system would lock if I tried to boot Windows 2000. Pretty much a boot-time Blue Screen of Death without the blue screen. XP64 would boot fine and installed drivers OK, so the hardware had to be good. Long story short, I had to reinstall Windows 2000. In preparation of the arrival of my new, and presumably roasting-hot graphics card, I decided to bite the bullet and do a full computer transplant and upgrade my case to something cooler and more spacious. I've been trying to justify a computer upgrade for months to myself and just can't do it. The Gigabyte GA-2CEWH and Supermicro H8DCi look like exactly what I want, but the price (~$350-400) and the fact I'd need a new video card (~$300+) is a bit of a turnoff. I'm also very interested to see the Tyan K8HM in action. The Broadcom HT1000/2000 combo looks like it runs cooler than the NF 2200/2050
